Link to Surgery.org Breast Augmentation is a cosmetic operation to increase the size of the breasts by introducing a synthetic implant behind the mammary gland (breast tissue). This procedure has been performed for over 30 years. Modern implants are inflated with saline solution and are therefore safe. This implant is placed either between the breast tissue and the muscle or more frequently beneath both the gland and the muscle . This procedure is generally performed as an out patient. Most can return to work within several days and to all normal activities within six weeks.
