Breast lift and Breast Reduction: Mastopexy and breast reduction are somewhat similar. These operations are both aimed at remodeling the breast. The reduction does this by removing a suitable segment of a large breast and reshaping it. The mastopexy does it by removing mainly skin and a small amount of breast tissue. A prosthesis may be incorporated in order to enlarge and firm the  breast. Better results are now being achieved through newer surgical techniques. Reductions are carried out to relieve back, shoulder and neck pain, skin irritation and problems with clothing which are common in women with large pendulous breasts. Mastopexy is done for aesthetic reasons. With both procedures the surgeon will improve the shape and the symmetry of the breast.
